Network maps not showing in console

I just installed EOC on a Windows server 2008 box and I have to say the instructions for setting this up in Windows 2008 are not complete.

I can't seem to get the maps to work on the home page I get the following error:

Error: Could not load file or assembly 'SolarWinds.Shared, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

I have tried searching the knowledge base and returned this. Which you would think would work if the file suggested was in the bin file which it is not.

Why are my map resources giving me script errors instead of displaying my maps?

Resolution:

Orion EOC users must have read and execute permissions to the bin\MapMaker folder in the Orion EOC program folder. If these permissions are not granted, the map resource displays script errors and maps will be unavailable.Granting All Authenticated Users the necessary read and execute permissions to the bin\MapMaker folder will take care of this problem for all your current and future Orion EOC users.

have you tried running the Configuration Wizard? It's under Programs>SolarWinds Orion>Configuration and Auto-Discovery/ and select Website.

Yes I have done the configuration wizard and that did not help

Are you not seeing the SolarWinds.Shared.dll file at the following, default, location?

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\EOC\Network Atlas

It would be that folder that you want to give the access of authenticated users to. If you can't find the file, then personally, I'd download Process Monitor from:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

And run it and then reproduce the error. Do a find in looking for "SolarWinds.Shared.dll" and look for the row that contains the Access Denied result. From that you'll have the path to the folder that you need to give permissions to.

Ooppss! I wasn't thinking.. The default location that you really want is:

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\EOC\Website\Bin

I did find that file and changed the permissions to read/write for authenticated users but no change.

I also restarted the website and IIS 7 and re-logged into the EOC to see if the change would take place after any of that and still no change in the error message.

Your problem is looking to be more involved. You can either try using Process Monitor like I mentioned above to find out more of what's happening and/or call Tech Support. They can walk you through solving it.

Had this working by turning off UA in Server 2008 at least that is what I had thought fixed it in EOC before but now after adding another NPM server to EOC the maps have reverted back to giving me an error again.

Not sure why but hoping support can re-open my old ticket and give me some help again.
