Am I the only person who feels like they know very little about solarwinds products? (Ps - this is a little rant at what I feel are my own failings.)
I have been using solarwinds for about a year at work and sometimes feel like I literally know nothing. Although that is kinda untrue. (example I have rebuillt our entire infrastructure) I don't like the way it is due to one reason or another. Sometimes due to technical knowledge/contsraints, other times business constraints.
I almost feel like I have wasted an entire year doing nothing. Which makes it even worse.
I mean i have this grand plan of building our environment like so:
MPLS line to metro datacenter 1 ---- Environment
MPLS line to metro datacenter 2 ---- Environment
Environment
Customers x.
Domain
SQL environment
Citrix applications
Other
Customer y
Domain
SQL environment
Citrix applications
Other
And so forth. In there the metro data center would be the backbone of our monitoring. And our customers and their virtual environment would all be dependent on the MPLS lines and should a node fail a node would alert and if the MPLS line failed then the whole environment would fail ect.
But IDK. It feels like I will actually never achieve what I want to achieve. It took me three weeks to migrate 1,000 servers into a new environment.
Phew - rant over. My apologies for those that read this rubbish.
