I have a customer who signs on to Solarwinds to monitor his nodes. If his node goes down I want to email the customer. Do I do this with alerts, if so how? Or is there some other way this is done.
Select the " Only following set of objects " and you'll get the following:
In this instance if the node is down AND the node's name is equal to (you could also do different conditions if you wanted) and in my case it is a black line to protect my company
but in your case just put in the specific node he wants.
THEN: You'll want to set the trigger to send an email to just him (or whoever wants that alert)
And from there you can change whatever you want the email to say ^^
Hope that helps
*EDIT: Additionally you may wanna make this another alert, just encase you wanna use the pre-built alert sometime in the future
Yes, you do it with alerts.
As mentioned, you do this with alert. There's a build in one already called 'Alert me when a node goes down'. You just need to fill in the email details.
But I want only one Node to alert me so I can send email for that one node, currently any node goes down the email alert will be sent.
