Has Orion been unreliable for you?

I have had nothing but issues with Orion since v12, all the bugs, crashes, I thought I made headway and ran for 2 months then Christmas eve crash and back to the normal cycle of crashing once a week and now almost daily. Rebuild Rabbit MQ.... logs upon logs upon logs. This is being frustrating. Anyone else having issues? Is 12.4 better still migrating to 2016 before I can't make that jump.

12.4 has been an improvement for me. I see fewer problems now than in earlier versions of 12.

I recognize and appreciate how I spend less time tweaking & tuning & opening up SW Support Cases these days.

This last 12.4 update has been a handful for me.

1.) One of my installs has started having invalid subscription issues which has caused some stability issues. It was crashing at least once a day for awhile. I was able to mitigate it some by moving nodes away from Agent polling. The problem is still there, but it's been slowed down. i've been working with support on it but we haven't been able to nail it down yet.

2.) The other install, today, stopped drawing CPU and Memory charts. All of the other charts are working, but anything related to CPU and Memory just stopped. Data is in the database, so I dunno. I couldn't find a smoking gun so I've got a ticket in with support over that as well.

3.) Huge memory leaks in some of my agents that nearly strangled some production servers. On another related note, restarting services resulted in three client agents panicking and crashing the system. They were production servers, but it didn't result in a customer impact. As a result, I've started migrating nodes back to WMI and SNMP. I can't risk the agent randomly causing production servers to fall over..

I'm confident Solarwinds will get this fixed, but I'm frustrated as the service has been very reliable for me up until the last two months.

Issue #2 & #3 should be resolved in Orion Platform 2018.4 Hotfix 2, which will likely be released in the next few days. It's likely that issue #1 is a symptom of your 2nd and 3rd issues, but without diagnostics and a case number it's difficult to say for certain. There are temporary solutions available through support for #2 and #3, but at this point I would advise waiting a few days for Hotfix 2 to be released.

Following up on this post. I applied hotfix 2 to one of my installations and I'm happy to report the initial results have been very positive. CPU and Memory charts have started populating again and memory usage on the Windows Agents appears to be under control.

I'm in a cool down right now to see how this one works before rolling it out to the larger installation, but so far so good

Thank you, I checked earlier and it wasn't out yet. Please keep us updated. This is on my list todo for next week if you have good results. The agent issue was a deal breaker as we have over 800 nodes with Agents.

The feedback I've received directly from both individual customers and support engineers, regarding hotfix 2, has been nothing but positive.

After applying the latest hotfixes/patches, I'm not noticing ANY Solarwinds NPM/NTA/IPAM/NCM problems.
