Adding a node to more than one parent group

I am trying to add a simple node to two different parent groups. adding to the second group fails.

node is monitored using ICMP ping only.

first group contains all ICMP monitored nodes but the second is made of of nodes that use SNMP v3 and the node I am trying to add would be the only ICMP node.

does this make a difference? can a node belong to two groups? can a group contain mixed node types ICMP/SNMP3?
