Update Polling IP In Database

I'm in the middle of a project re-addressing most of our data centers and trying to automate updating Orion as server IPs are changed. From what I can tell, there are two tables that have the IP address for the node;

NodesData, which has the polling IP, and NodeIPAddresses, which has all of the IP addresses of the monitored node. Changing these with SQL results in an immediate update to both in the web interface.

Is this the same net effect as changing it manually in the web interface? Are there any ramifications that could result in changing the polling IP this way?

You also have to update the ipaddressGUID as well as the polling IP

(the NodeIpAddress is updated when the node is rediscovered, so you do not need to update this)

I'd really recommend to update this information using the API... it seems to me that you're asking for trouble to mess directly with the database as time goes on. If I do anything like this I normally restart all of the processes on all of the servers to make sure they pickup database changes.
