Why would I use/upgrade SQL 2008 R2?

Hi guys,

I just being informed by our Database team that SQL 2005 will not be upgraded for a long time. Yes they are Oracle lovers . So, I want to know what am I missing? What are the advantages for 2008 R2 over 2005? Because our DB team thinks nothing is changed so they will not upgrade. I can convice for an upgrade if 2008 R2 gives me much.
