Advanced Alert sending an SNMP trap

running Orion 9 and trying to create an advanced alert to send an SNMP trap and I get the following error:

ApplicationEngineeringCPUTrap.

8/4/2008 12:04:30 PM: Preparing action type SNMPTrap to test alert

8/4/2008 12:04:30 PM: Could not prepare the action for action type
SNMPTrap to test alert ApplicationEngineeringCPUTrap.

8/4/2008 12:04:30 PM: Completed action type SNMPTrap for alert
ApplicationEngineeringCPUTrap.

8/4/2008 12:04:30 PM: Completed test for alert
ApplicationEngineeringCPUTrap.

I copied an exact trap file that is working but the new
advanced alert does not work. Need some help figuring this out,

is the SOLARWINDS TRAP SERVICE service set Automatic and Started?

and is the SNMP TRAP SERVICE service set to Manual and could/could not be Started ... just depends on trap activity.

We do not see any "Solarwinds Trap Service" service on neither the poller or the main SLX web server. SNMP Trap Service is set to manual and not started because our pollers do not receive traps. We are trying to get the alert to send a snp trap to our main NMS server. We have 1 alert that works just fine but creating any new ones does not work.

By default, if the SNMP Trap Service is not running , the config wizard won't install the Trap Server (which is a default we are changing). You would need to re-run the Services portion of the Config Wizard to install that Trap Service.

We are not talking about Orion receiveing traps. We want Orion to send a trap to our main NMS server. We have one that works and we can't get any others to work.
