Hi,
We are introducing our NMC to Orion at the moment and they have voiced a need for a feature that could be very handy if it was included in the web interface of Orion. In the Events view page you can search based on a single device \ device type \ Event Type which is fine if you're searching for just a single device.
On our network we have hundreds of PODS throughout the country all the PODS have a similar set up's which would be 2 switches behind a router. What the NMC requested was a when they spotted and event from one of the devices from a POD in the event window, they could use a search feature that would not only show them the original device that triggered the event but also any events from any of the other devices within the same POD.
Note: the PODS all have the same SNMP location field and Each POD has it's own custom property group.
Based on that I can think of a few ways of doing this but I cannot see how it can be implemented in Orion.
1. Is to use a search criteria based on the location as each POD has the SNMP location specified all its devices
2. Use Custom Properties and search via the specific custom properties.
I guess Ultimately what I'm asking is, is there a way of searching events for single or multiple devices in the same way you can search on the home page "search nodes" or "search interfaces" windows.
And really the search could be included in the Syslog, Traps and Alerts window.
Is there a way to do this already or is the a work around?
Cheers
