We just added a WS 2016 Standard to our environment. NPM is reporting it as a WS 2012. Does anyone have any experience with the OS reporting Incorrectly? We are monitoring via SNMP V2.
Do you have the latest MIBs from SolarWinds? Have you done an snmpwalk on it?
Any reason you're polling it via snmp? Windows is deprecating it so in the long run it'll be better to use Windows WMI which should report correctly.
We ended up updating our entire environment this weekend and the server started reporting correctly. My Guess is the MIBs Files. Thanks!
No particular reason, it is just the current process. We monitor by SNMP unless a need arises to monitor otherwise. If you have any, I'd love to see resources as to why the default for windows should be WMI. Maybe I can gather enough material to convince the higher-ups.
