Monitoring Disk Usage on Sun Solaris

Hi All:

I have installed NET-SNMP on a Sun UltraSPARC 1 machine and configured the snmpd.conf file to include the includeAllDisks directive, but I still can't get any disk volume usage from it through Orion 7.2.2.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Same problem here... using Net-snmp 5.1.1

Finally got it to work by configure'n with --with-mib-modules="host...

configure --with-default-snmp-version=2 --with-mib-modules="host disman/event-mib ucd-snmp/diskio smux agentx mibII/mta_sendmail" --with-sys-contact="NCG UNIX 713-806-6118" --with-sys-location="1301 Fannin Houston, TX 77002 10th Floor Datacenter" --with-logfile="/var/log/snmpd.log" --with-persistent-directory="/var/net-snmp" --with-copy-persistent-files="no" --with-cc=gcc

well, it works... for a few minutes... after selecting the volumes, the snmpd agent hangs during the first poll...

truss on the snmpd process shows it hanging on open(/etc/mnttab, and llseek(12... calls

"snmpwalk -c COMMNUITY localhost host" works fine. solarwinds is doing something that is hanging the snmpd(net-snmp-5.1.2) agent

Exactlty same problem here, net-snmp 5.1.1 hangs and requires two attemts to get it started again. I'll insure the cause/resolution is logged once we've had more work done on this matter.

Anyone ever come up with a resolution to this? I am having the same issue.

5.0.9 does not suffer this problem. Solution found here: groups.google.com/groups

Charles,
It is not possible to configure Orion so that it only collects part of the information from the volumes. If you poll the volumes, it will try to collect information from this MIB.

This is a standard, RFC defined MIB (the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB) that most agents support. There should be an updated version of the agent that doesn’t have this issue.
