Large Interface Descriptions (>255 chars)

I'm having a problem when adding interfaces to Orion where the description is larger than 255 characters. I get a popup message letting me know it's too large and the interface is not added to NPM. I have to add these interfaces for monitoring and I tried modifying some stuff in the interfaces table from nvarchar(255) to MAX and I still can't add the interfaces. Does anyone know a work around for what I am seeing? I don't care if the interface is truncated to 255 chars I just need it in Orion.
