Hardware refresh with 9.5 upgrade

We are currently planning our 9.5 upgrade from 9.1 (2 pollers, APM, VoIP, NTA) and were considering performing this at the same time as a complete hardware refresh (including the database server).

This potentially would give us a very easy fallback option should things not go quite as planned.

The question is, when performing a ‘new’ install, will the installer recognise a netperfmon database that is at a 9.1 level.

Would there be any backout option for the database should for instance we need to go back to the 9.1 installation after a time period (i.e. to avoid losing data collected since the upgrade).

Just trying to explore our best options...

Hi Dave,

I would install 9.1 on the new hardware using the 9.1 DB and then upgrade. 9.5 requires CLR (not supported in 9.1) and has some schema changes that will not be happy with a 9.1 DB.

Makes it slightly easier on us anyway doing it in a two step approach.
