Hi Team,
I am unable to see the F5 device alert on the widget - All alert this object can trigger.
Please suggest how i can make it happen.
If you do a list resources on the node is F5 checked off?
F5 check is enabled.
You will never see it there if it's not set on Node under "I want to alert on:", the same way you don't see volume alerts there. F5 statistics are stored in different tables and selecting "F5 Device" will look for a different kind of objects.
I wanted to suggest this as a likely reason, but I wasn't sure and haven't had an environment with F5's to test/confirm in a while.
The I want to alert on is correct in your view but you need change Node to F5 Device you can also click on (Show List) and see what Nodes/ F5 devices the alert see's
I updated it still not able to see the alert name under the widget: All alerts this object can trigger
I checked the link Success Center but there should be some way to get it. I tried F5 views provided and added the widget but it is not alerting on them. Maybe I am missing something.
The widget only displays alerts where the "object I want to alert on" is a node. None of the f5 alerts would show up on that list. I almost always remove that widget from my views because I find it to be misleading
If you really want to see it there just do it like this, with node name or anything else you need
This is because the items related to the F5 are not under the node, but instead, have their own separate category.
I'm familiar, and in a programatic sense it makes sense, but when someone who doesn't live in the Orion db sees the list they generally assume that the node details page for an f5 would show alerts for that node and it's children. I have to explain that widget to people all the time and it is not intuitive to most new users. Easier to not show it to them than the deal with the question of why it doesn't show 'x'
