Summarising Custom MIB results

Question

Hi,

I have created a custom poller that tells me how many active B channels I have on some of our voice gateways. The poller works fine and it displays the results on the node details page in the web browser. The results are a status list of all individual B channels on a selected device that are either "Idle" or "Active". As these are voice gateways the list is quite long, too long to be useful "at a glance".

So, is there a way to summarise the results so that instead of showing every individual channel and it's state, it will display something like 25 active channels and 50 Idle channels? I have tried to transform the reults in the Universal Device poller App but I haven't been able to come close to what I want.

Is there a way to do this?

MIB Value Type: Raw Value

Fomat:  Enumeration

SNMP Get Table: GET TABLE

Poling Type: Node

best thing I can say here then is to get a toolset and walk the mib yourself and see if you can find it.  CISCO wants you to use their craptastic monitoring platform so probably will not give you much info on how to access the MIBs.

there is ususally more information than anyone wants to know when you walk the mibs on a device,  But sometimes you find just the right piece of info that you want.

I have designed a comparison of what we are seeing and what we would like to see. btw I did try and use another MIB CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB:cpmISDNCfgBChannelsInUse OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.3 This MIB didn't work as it doesn't surpport newer platforms, Details from Cisco TAC below: "The CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB was designed for AS-5xxx platform. Later it got included into Modular Access Router (MAR) and Integrated Service Router (ISR) platforms. Currently, the tables in this MIB are not getting populated correctly for certain platforms because they are indexed based on the slot number and the port. Some platforms, such as the Cisco 3800 series, can use three level numbering such as /_{/ (Example: T1 0/0/1 or T1 2/1/1), whereas the MIB supports only two levels of numbering as in / (Example: E1 1/0 or T1 2/1)."

So this is how I ended up with the current MIB. I have to say I love the universal device poller it's everything I expected and more. But a results summary would be a great new feature to add to it. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I can recall having the need for a summary view of a custom poller so it could be very useful.

when reading this it seems you only want one set of information either the good or the bad,  If you only want information to show you which ones are not up and idle then refine your query and have it give you just what you want.

If it is just a matter of too much information on one page then you might try using summarization if you can find the right field to make the summary work for you.
