"Neighbor is down" alert on a switch

Hi,

I have a strange issue that I can't quite figure out. I have a switch that is throwing the alert, "Alert me when a neighbor goes down". The thing is, this switch has no neighbors It has a single VLAN interface for management and a single static route to the router at the site.

The IP address that is says it's alerting on is the site router's next hop - a diagram:

[10.255.1.9] ------ [10.255.1.10/10.111.1.1] -------- [10.111.1.11]

The 10.111.1.11 switch is throwing the alert that its neighbor 10.255.1.9 is down. How do I clear this alert, and keep it cleared?

I had a similar issue, and it turned out that NPM was actually correct - this particular router was indeed experiencing a problem with intermittent drops on the link to it's upstream neighbor. Now, when I get an alert I check to see if it's a real alert or not...

Is there any relevant information in the switch's log file?

Nothing in the switch log but ports going up/down as users come in and leave. The routing table is quite simple

Gateway of last resort is 10.111.1.1 to network 0.0.0.0

10.0.0.0/24 is subnetted, 1 subnets

C 10.111.1.0 is directly connected, Vlan1

S* 0.0.0.0/0 [1/0] via 10.111.1.1

There's nothing in the upstream router log (the one that actually has the BGP neighbor relationship with 10.255.1.9) other than ISDN calls. The BGP relationship is stable as well:

BGP neighbor is 10.255.1.9, remote AS [REDACTED], external link

BGP version 4, remote router ID [REDACTED]

BGP state = Established, up for 41w2d

It truly has me stumped. The switch doesn't even have a relationship with the IP that is throwing the alert, and the device that *does* have this relationship doesn't seem to be having an issue with it.
