Help with Dependancies

Looking for clarification on how dependencies work.

In the image attached to this the NPM server is at the top of the picture connected to switch A which is then connect to switch B. Switch B is the entrance into a ring that then branches off at switch E and F.

I am thinking what i need to do is the following dependencies.

Parent                  H                             Child      K and L

Parent                  G                             Child      I and J

Parent                  F                             Child      H

Parent                  E                             Child      G

Parent                  B                             Child      E and F

Parent                  A                             Child      B

  

With the above dependancies, if B went down would K show as unreachable or would it alert as down?

If

1. you have defined the dependencies as you have described, and
2. B goes down after K has been added for monitoring by your SolarWinds NPM server

K should show as unreachable in the setup you have described. NPM checks dependency definitions before declaring a node as down, so it should pick up that K is dependent on H is dependent on F is dependent, ultimately, on B.
