Hi,
Migrating Orion to another server. How can I move alerts from source to target server?
Thanks
For me I just rebuilt our Orion server but kept the database (hosted on an external server), and when I re-installed Orion the alerts were there, so they must be stored in the DB...
But, I know at least in 8.5 for the advanced alerts there is a way to save the alerts as a file (one file per alert), and then 'import' that file into your new server.
What version of Orion are you running?
version 8.0.2, same thing here, kept the database, but installing Orion on another server.
Currently, I see 2 nodes, old and new server, moving nodes with polling engine, I'll check
if alerts are visible on new server.
I need to move alerts only from 7.8.139 to 8.5.1.0. I do not want to migrate the datavase because I am worried it might be corrupt. Is there a way to migrate only the alerts?
Thank you in advance
Jeff
Did this ever resolve? I am about to do the same thing. We decided to upgrade our old version of SW and thinking of rebuilding the whole thing from scratch. I know I can migrate the MAPS and reports, but I want to know if there is an easy to migrate Alerts from the old box into the new one.
Hi all new Member here. I have "successfully" migrated my orion DB to a new server. The web page is working but my basic alerts are gone. I did a full backup of my DB when I migrated. Why would these alerts be gone? How do I get them back. Thank you so much in advance.
Santos,
Basic alerts are kept on the poller. So the alerts themselves will be on the old poller still. The easiest way to move them would be to change their assignment in the database.
To do this:
1. Open the Database Manager, and add your SQL Server to the list if is not already listed here.
2. Drill into the server.
3. Drill into the database (most likely named NetPerfMon) to display all of the tables.
4. Right click on the Engines table and select Query Table.
5. Click the refresh button in the newly displayed window.
6. Make note of the EngineID of the current Orion server.
7. In the window, replace the "Select Top 1000 *From Alerts" with the following query:Update Alerts
Set EngineID = x
(x should be whatever number the EngineID was in step 6)8. Hit Refresh
Now when you open up the Basic Alert Manager, you'll see the alerts have moved over.
Will this also bring over all the triggers for events? Thank you.
