Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
node names by ports
Gennady
is there a simple way to see which pc/server is connected to specific switch port?
not necessarily node name - MAC or IP will be enough.
thx in advance,
Gennady

You can use the switch port mapper if you have Solarwinds Engineering Edition.
Otherwise you would have to do this manually with the command line software in your switch/router.
In Cisco it is - show ip arp, and show cam dynamic.

Actually, I've been hopeing that they incorporate the Switch port mapper functionality into Orion. Especially on the detail view of a switch. Wouldn't it br great to drill in to a switch on the web browser and see whats attached to each port?

This information should actually come from the SNMP port description MIB.
I've been asking for this to be supported for the past year now on Catalyst switches running CatOS. Then you would just have to label your switch ports in one place.
The MIBs are there, they are just not polling them with Orion.
