Device Availability Reporting with exclusions

I am trying to figure out how to report on device availability while excluding times that aren't in business hours and times in which the power has failed. I have all of our UPS monitored so I am aware of when there is a power failure by UnDPs, but I can't figure out how to make the report accomplish this. To make matters slightly worse I would like to make sure that both UPS in the MDF of a remote site have loss input power before treating it as a power outage.

Any ideas or suggestions would be fantastic.

Unfortunately there isn't going to be any easy way to do this. The best possibility would be to do a report using a custom SQL query. That query would need to capture the device availability and then look at all of your UPS devices, when they failed, tally that time and apply it to your device availability to get a real availability. All of the data is there but you will likely need somebody that is pretty good a writing SQL queries to make the magic happen.

That is unfortunately what I was thinking as well. The more I try to do with SolarWinds the more I realize that I just need to master SQL queries. I have been able to get by with using other people queries and modifying them, but I guess I need to stop studying Cisco and focus on SQL instead.

It will definitely be a good idea to learn the database layout and be able to write some SQL queries. To all Orion users/admins I recommend the SAMS Teach Yourself SQL in 10 Minutes book. It doesn't wast time telling you the history of a database, it just jumps right in on how to write queries.
