Bandwidth history (Interface Speed)

Is there a report (or table) that stores the interface speed so that it can be reported against over time?

we have a lot of lines that fluctuate ' a lot' !!! and I need to be able to factually state that the interface speed to that hub site was x at y time (or day would be suffcient) but by hourly, detail, daily as per sql tables would be good.

Does this already exist?

Also if this doesnt exist then I am extremely worried as this would make ALL statistics using % utilization invalid as I guess it would have to use the 'current' listed interface speed - even if you were running a historical report??

Please tell me it exists...

..in the meantime.. can anyone help with the variables required to re-create this Event, as an alert I can email..

I have looked for the event, and cannot find the variable names for Changed from/ to values for interface speed...

SW any feedback on this issue? This seems to be a fundemental flaw... from someone who has been developing quantitative statistics and 'history browser' performance for sql server monitoring , this is a major issue when it comes to providing valid and accurate utilization reports and trend analysis year on year...

Even having the InPercent & OutPercent values replicated to the hourly and daily historical tables would help...

Events for Changed from/to variables...

I don't think you can use Advanced Alerts for this, but you can use the variable -PREVIOUS with Basic Alerts to get this info sent in an email.

But be warned, you might should have a good design for ALERT SUPPRESSION in place before you enable this and get a ton of alerts from tons of interfaces.

Message looks something like:

Alert: Transmit Traffic rate on ${FullName} is ${OutBps}

Previous XMIT was ${OutBps-Previous}

Previous REC was ${InBps-Previous}
