Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Cisco VPN Concentrator
FormerMember
Has anyone ever monitored a Cisco Concentrator through Orion?
Specifically 3005's and 3020's.
The problem that I am running into is that the Public interface is always reporting large numbers of receive discards (Several Hundred thousand every day). My assumption is that the default drop traffic rules in place on the concetrators are showing up as discards.
Any ideas on tuning this?

We see the same thing on the public interface of our VPN Concentrator 3000 series. We just ignore it as normal behavior. I am not sure there is any way to tune it out.

Ditto here - I get in the region of 500,000 discards a day on our 3005

I asked the same question of tech support and here is their response:
Question 1. I have a Cisco 3005 VPN concentrator with SNMP enabled. The only statistics I am getting from Orion is from the NIC cards. How can I get more statistics on the VPN concentator such as CPU, Memory, and Disk.
Thank you for contacting SolarWinds.Net. If the MIB on the device does not support this data we will not be able to gather statistics off of it. Adding support for custom MIBs is something we are looking at adding into Orion in the future. We do not yet have an ETA on this feature being added.
Please let us know if we can provide any additional information or assistance.
