Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
Network Performance Monitor Startup Error
srhodes
* Upgraded from version 6.4 to version 7.1. Ran unload of 6.4, rebooted, then loaded 7.1
* No problem in the upgrade.
* After an hour or so, when trying to access the web page I receive the following error:
Cannot start SolarWinds Orion NPM Web Engine (OrionNPMWeb.Application).
Error Number -2147024882
006~ASP 0177~Server.CreateObject Failed~Ran out of memory
You may need to rerun the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard.

for more detailed information.
* From the server console, within Task Manager, the DLLHOST.EXE process is utilizing the most memory. Username= IISUSER_SOLARWINDS MemUsage = 1,614,324K. The server has 2GB of memory.
* When I terminate DLLHOST.EXE, I am able to access the web page. Then again, after an hour or so, the page is unavailable. There may be a memory leak.
Any suggestions?
Sandy Rhodes

I started my SW deployment w/ 7.0 but here's something you might want to try.
* Run install per upgrade requirements.
* Remove C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds
* Reinstall
DLLHost can act really strangely from time to time.

I actually did find a way to fix this issue...well, Solarwinds techsupport did.
They said that the error was related to Windows 2000 SP3 which I happen to be running (though I thought I'd already upgraded to SP 4).
I upgraded to SP 4 and I've been good since.
