hi, need help , after make maintainence in system , the database files got corrupted , especially SolarWindsOrion.mdf & SolarWindsOrion_log.ldf .
I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but it must be asked: Did you create a backup of the database prior to doing the maintenance? If so, restore it.
If not, call your DBA's and SAN people and ask if they can restore a backed-up copy of the database from their archives.
If you don't have such a backup, open a case with SolarWinds Support and be prepared to learn potentially happy or sad news. Your data might be accessible, or it might be gone--especially if you have no backups. But SW Support can get you going again, even if it may mean you might have lost your historical data.
thanks ... but i don't care about historical data and backups files .... now i just want to fix the issue and get the solarwinds back to work.
The Database will contain all of your configuration including all the managed nodes and historical data. It is very simple to create a new empty database and get the system up and running again.
On the Orion server, open the "Configuration Wizard"
You will have 3 options, for Website, Database, Services.
Follow the steps in the wizard and when prompted to use an existing or new database, choose new.
Click next and review the remaining screens.
The process will likely complete in 10-20 minutes. Here is an example SolarWinds NPM Test Installation Test Video - YouTube
The error report will often tell you additional information... the database may be fine btw.
Try running the config wizard, it should help you sort the issue out, the database could be ok run the wizard.
Ohh by the way, check all the services are up and running as well before you do
what i need to make new install can someone give me the solarwinds source setup and steps ..... i dont need my old data i just have to make a fresh install ..... thanks all.
Hi diamondtouch you need to follow the instructions posted above by tony.johnson and run the Configuration Wizard selecting "New Database" this will start you with a fresh database.
If you're looking to start from scratch, you should be able to find the setup executables in your customer portal.
