Traffic report writer

Hello,

I have the following question:

Is it possible to create a report which the average traffic from recieving and transmitting traffic calculates over the working hours. We are creating every mounth a report and the average is very low because it is calculated from 24/7.

Does any one have a solution for this.

Yes, there is a way of doing it you use the time and date filtering this is an add-on that can be found on the solarwinds website if you have maintenance on Orion. We created a chart that was 8-6 Mon-Fri which gave us the results we required.

Yes, this is possible. You need to download the Report Writer Exclusions from Additional Orion Components in the Customer Area.

Then run Report Writer.
Filter Results for example -
Records where "Day of Week" "is not equal to" "Saturday"
Records where "Day of Week" "is not equal to" "Sunday"
Records where "Time of Day (24 hour format)" "is greater than or equal to" "08:00"
Records where "Time of Day (24 hour format)" "is less than" "17:00"

I downloaded the file. But if i try it i get only the option date. What is it what i doing wrong. i copied the two files in the correct directory. But still i get only the option date. The version which we are running is:

Report writer 7.7.7
network preformance monitor 7.7.9

Please help

Did you restart the Report Writer application?

You must go into Custom Property Editor & find the hidden refresh button in the list of toolbar buttons. Drag this button to you toolbar & click on it. It will update Report Writer with all of your custom properies.
(The button will be gone from your toolbar next time you start CPE.)

I am actually having the same issue. In a report I use the custom property editor and the date and time exclusions. I already ran the update custom properties to the schema thing so my custom properties have appeared but I still have invalid filters.

Records where * is not equal to Saturday - is an example of one of the condtions that has an invalid filter. If I click the star to change this to day of week my only option is Date. Same thing goes if I try to change Saturday, my only option is Date.

NPM was restarted and I assume that is why my custom properties when out the window but once the schema was updated they all came back. I'm only having issues with the Date & Time Exclusions now. Do I need to reinstall this or is there another "fix". I appreciate any help!

Hi All,

I have a similar problem, where I am trying to get average utilization during business hours on some nodes in different time zones. My problem is that since these nodes are on the other side of the globe, when I input the time, I don't get a result if I pass midnight in my time selection. i.e. . Is there a way for me to get results from 16:00 hours to 05:00 hours only? thanks in advance.

the simplest way to do this would be to use multiple time filters

ie - hour of day greater than or equal to 16 and hour of day less than 5

I tried that, but it would come up with no results for some reason. Maybe it is because I'm also setting it to not include saturdays and sundays?
