Hardware status not updating after 12.4 updgrade

Hello everyone,

We just upgraded to NPM 12.4 and we have one switch and 2 routers stating in the events every five minutes "Hardware Health monitoring on XXX is undefined"

This just started after the upgrade. I have double checked all the SNMP information, re-discover, re-poll, and removed them from the poller and readded them.

To add to the weirdness the two routers that are showing are both offline and have muted alerts.

Has anyone seen this or can shed any light on what might be causing this?

I ran the Config Wizard and it did not resolve the issue. I did find a work around though.

Turn off the device in the pollers

Settings->All setting-> Manage Pollers->Hardware Health Sensor -> uncheck the 3 devices that where causing issues.

It no longer reports on those 3 devices and my events log looks nice and clean again.

This is currently an issue that we are tracking internallyNPM11246 here is the current workaround for this issue.

*WORKAROUND:* Disable specific EventType: UPDATE EventTypes SET Record = 0 WHERE Name = 'Hardware Undefined'

Does this do it globally or locally?

Have you tried running the config wizard on all polling engines?

I have never run it before. I will take snapshots and backs and run it tomorrow morning.

Config wizard was a good idea, however it didn’t help in my customers environment.

I opened a case to check in on the status of the internal bug tracking.

This is the internal number NPM-11246 looks like it will be fixed in NPM 12.5

Are you polling that device using SNMP v2 or v3? If you are using this, try changing it to SNMP v1 and see if the issue goes away after that. One of the changes in the new versions of NPM is that, we use SNMP v1 when polling a node.
