Test Connectivity from Switch VLAN

Hi,

I have a switch wih 8 different VLAN's the devices on on of the vlans needs internet conncetivity how can I test that from that specific Vlan the devices have Internet connectivity.

I was thinking of running an NCM ping script on the Cisco switch from that VLAN to the Internet but I am not sure if this is the best way how can I configure this as a task that can be run as required and be displayed as a Green/Red Indicatior?

IP SLA is another module/product from Solarwinds. I don't think NCM will be able to give you what you want. If you've got NPM, you can use the free IP SLA tool and export universal device pollers to integrate into your nodes' status pages inside of NPM if you're not planning on picking up the IP SLA component.

But, as nrms said, IP SLA would be your best bet to get the kind of reporting you're interested in and it's really what IP SLA was designed for - testing connectivity from your devices instead of everything being tested from a central location.

Assuming each VLAN "interface" has an IP address associated with it, and your switch supports it, this sounds like something that IP SLA would be suited to.

Thanks for responding but I dont have APM, I was thinking of runing a script via NCM I would ideally like to be able to allow users to run the script and be able to show the results as a red or green icons. The script via NCM I can do getting the system to show the resukts as red or green I am not sure about.

Any Ideas?
