We are beginning an initial deployment of Orion NPM. I have a question about choosing devices during Network Discovery, namely Interfaces. Basically, during the initial discovery of a switch or router I want to be able to select only the Interfaces I care about monitoring.
The reason that I want to select the interfaces here, is that we have a large number of Interfaces. But we only want to monitor and report on a much smaller number of them. We only purchased enough licenses to cover the number of nodes and Interfaces that we actually want to monitor (should actually be about double the number).
When I do a discover, and it choosing ALL the Interfaces on the nodes, it exceeds our total licensed devices. The are a couple of our core switches that, each by itself, will exceed our license limit. So, it seem I can't complete a Discover of them.
I need to be able unselect Interfaces during the Discovery. Or have NPM allow the Discover and configuration of the nodes and Interfaces. And only enforce license compliance when attempting to actually monitor the devices.
