Moving Database

Question

Hello,

I'm trying to move our orion database to a new server. I've followed the steps outlined in the "Moving your Orion NPM Database" document.

I've moved the database to the new server then when i run the solarwinds configuration wizard i click the 'Database' check box click next then add the new servers name in the SQL Server field. Once i click Next nothing happens, it doesn't open another window.

Has anyone ever come across this before?

Maybe i'm missing a step but to be honest it seams a very basic thing to do.

Have you made sure the username has the appropriate privledges on the new database.

Make sure you are not trying to connect with the saved username and password.  You'll need to connect with Windows Authentication or with the SQL sa username.  Once the connection is established and you choose the database, you'll need to create a new user.  Also remember to ensure the SQL Server Agent is running on the new SQL server, and if the Windows Firewall is on, that exceptions are made for incoming and outbound SQL traffic.
