SNMP for Availability Calculation

Currently, is there a way to configure Orion NPM to calculate availbility on a node based on whether it responds to SNMP rather than ICMP? We have nodes that are firewalled that will not respond to ICMP but will respond to SNMP. We would like to see this as an option.
