Network Performance Monitor db archiving not working

Hi all,

I have an issue with my version of NPM where the data that is stored in the database doesn't auto-purge after the specified number of days and so needs to be manually cleared down by taking the monitoring software down, running the db maintenance tool and then restarting the app.

Obviously i would like the auto maintenance to take place. Anyone else had this issue?

Usually this is caused by something in the tables that is either taking too long, or is causing errors. Could be corrupt data, or orphaned. The best place to start is looking into the swdebugmaintenance.log in the install directory of Orion and searching for errors during a time when the auto-maintenance failed to complete.

I'm getting something similar where I have a DB backup scheduled weekly on Sunday. However, the configured directory for the backups is empty. The logfile shows no errors. Also, no matter what directory I specify for the destination, it resets to the MSSQL default backup location.

Are you using the Orion Database Manager or SQL Management Studio?

ODM... I've been told though that one must have an actual SQL Agent installed on the server in order for the scheduled backup to work, which is an additional license fee. I don't recall this being in the documentation, but I guess I could have missed it somewhere...
