Tellabs / Vivace Networks Sub-Interfaces Reading

Problem:

Unable to get a value /reading on the sub-interfaces of Tellabs.

Signs:

0 value reading on the output of SolarWinds on the sub-interfaces.

Performed wireshark trace and verified that the device is sending a value of 0.

SolarWinds TAC:

This is an issue with the SNMP agent running on the device and you will need to contact the vendor to resolve this issue. Coordinate with the ventor to verify why the device is returning a value of 0. This will not be resolved by Universal Device Poller (UDP) because even if we configure it with a customed poller, it will still receive a value of zero (0) if the device is returning this value thru that interface.

A private mib could contain the Sub-Interfaces statistics.

I advise you to run a MIB Walk and check what MIBs are supported beside the If-MIB that Orion NPM polls by default.

If by any chance a Tellabs mib returns you the sub interface stats, you could gather them using UnDPs.

Of course as said by support, if an update exists for the SNMP agent, it would be easier from the Orion side to start monitoring your sub-if.
