Alert on % down nodes

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to create an alert based on the percentage/number of down nodes. We monitor a large number of sites and I'd like to get an alert when the number of unavailable nodes crosses a certain threshold (say 10% or 50 out of 500).

Any ideas?
