unknown type for devices

Hi,

After a discovery or add node the device shows up under Unknown. These are ESX servers and virtual machines. Some virtual machines on the same ESX server are known others Unknown. The ESX servers have SNMP traps enabled.

Check out this tip for handling Unknown devices. You may need to open a support ticket as well.

If that was the case that the information is not in the config file I would have thought that all VMs on that ESX server would display the same status which is not the case.

Are you discovering and polling via vCenter or to each ESX host individually? Are you using the VMWare credentials or SNMP only?

Post it to the Unknown Devices thread mentioned in the tip. Also, look at Alterego's post on this thread.

Just to clarify--you will have to get the MIB to SW in some manner and SW will add it.
