Discard trap action not working

I have some rules set up in the trap receiver to discard some traps based on the OID value. The Alert action in the rule has the "Discard Trap Message" as the only action. I was going through the traps table and I am seeing these traps still in the database. Isn't the "Discard Trap Message" action designed so these messages do not get entered into the database? Has anyone else had this issue? We are using v 9.5 with SQL 2005.

What is the date/time stamp on the trap messages you're seeing in the database? Since rules aren't retroactive, could those be from previous messages received before you setup the rule? One way to test this is to setup a temporary action on that rule to log a message to a file each time a trap is discarded.

The time stamps are from today. Some of the rules are a week old and one is at least a month old. We have been having issues with the trap receiver for a while now, and one of the things support had me do is truncate the traps table. Some of these rules were in place before we trucated the table.

Ok, thought it was worth asking. I don't see why that action wouldn't be firing. Can you try my suggestion of adding the log to file action on that rule to see if it's even firing? If it isn't firing, perhaps there's an issue with the OID matching.
