Monitoring "dumb" Ethernet devices
new_guy
My understading of the monitoring function of Orion is that the device it is monitoring must support the IF-MIB. So if I want to monitor (e.g., ping every once in a while) a dumb device like an few Webcams or some old Linksys routers is there a way to get them to appear as nodes in Orion?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey new_guy - Welcome to the forums.
Sure, that's no a problem at all.
Just check the box that says - device does not support SNMP when adding it in the NetPerfMon System Manager.
Then it will only be pinged at the preset intervals.

Whoops - didn't see that checkbox.
Thanks!

I found that these devices support basic snmp so you can get basic information in some cases...
