Report Writer - TopXX report based on custom property?

Does Top10 or TopXX work based on a node custom property? I can't seem to find a way to get Report Writer to produce TOP10 Availability and Latency reports based on the value of a Node custom property, for example, "Department". I need the availability (and latency) report to list the Top10 nodes within each "Department". We have 8 "Department"s and Report Writer produces the report showing the overall TOP10 nodes, not 10 nodes per "Department". Is my only option to create 8 dfferent reports?

In the Filter Results tab you will need to make a condition group with an "any" condition. Then put something like this.

Custom prop = custom prop nameFor each of your Custom Prop.

This should filter to just the nodes in that are in the 8 groups.

For the web you will need to do this for each "box" in the top 10 page.

Custom_Prop name = 'prop_name_1' or Custom_Prop name = 'prop_name_2'

and so on for the rest.

Dan, if I understood you correctly, I tried as you suggested but still get same result. Only one of the 8 Departments "CHART" (i.e., Modal) is listed with 10 nodes rather than 8 Departments (i.e Modals) each with 10 nodes. Here is the selected fields, filter and resulting report. What am I missing?

Select Fields tab...

Select the following fields:

Field: Modal sort: ascending function: *

Field: Device_Type sort: * function: *

Field: Node Name sort: * function: *

Field: Availability sort: * function: AVERAGE

Filter Results tab...(The odd thing is that the 2nd group Select ALL "Records where Device_Type is equal to Router" is not being respected.)

Select records where ANY of the following apply

Records where Modal is equal to CHART

Records where Modal is equal to MAA

Records where Modal is equal to MDTA

Records where Modal is equal to MPA

Records where Modal is equal to MTA

Records where Modal is equal to MVA

Records where Modal is equal to SHA

Records where Modal is equal to TSO

Select records where ALL of the following apply

Records where Device_Type is equal to Router

Report Result...

Availability - Top 10 Devices - This Month (Test)

I think the issue is with our filter. You need three condition groups. The top one is will contain the two other conditions and needs to be set to All. The condition group with your Custome Props needs any and the Device type needs to be an all condition. OR like this
