NPM, Netflow, IPAM, APM, NCM server migration

Greetings!

I have been tasked with migration our current Orion installation to a new server (Currently installed in a virtual environment, and being migrated to a new VM). Hostname and IP will be changing.

The following components are all required to be migrated.

• NPM
• Netflow
• IPAM
• APM
• NCM

I have found the following documents:

The above documents only seem to reference NPM specifically and I am wondering if there are any additional tasks that need to be completed for the other Orion components (Netflow, IPAM,  APM, and NCM) or if the above documents are all I need.   If there are migration resources for other Orion components could I be pointed in the correct direction?

Hi, Matt.

1. The instructions in the Orion NPM Server Migration PDF are for an older version of Orion NPM, but are still correct except for the portions regarding the now-obsolete Map Maker. Network Atlas maps are stored in the database so there's nothing to move.

2. Orion APM and Orion NCM encrypt credentials with security certificates you have to copy to the operating system of your new VM. If you skip this step, you have to re-enter all your credentials:

• I installed the Orion NCM integration component on my Orion NPM additional web console, but I cannot see any NCM data. How do I fix this?

 

3.  You didn't put your MS SQL Server on the same VM instance too, did you?
