I need to add a list nodes that have been powered down for a while and do not resolve to an IP address. I have tried different polling methods and via network discovery but no luck. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.
If you cannot ping the devices, add the nodes as external devices, this way they won;t be polled but you can enter their details.
Once the device are available/live again, switch the polling to ICMP/WMI/SNMP/Agent and off you go.
Thanks for the information. I still have to use an IP address instead of the hostname for the "polling hostname or ip address" field. However I can change the name once I get to the change properties section.
They only problem is if server doesn't have ip address it can't be added by hostname.
Add Node as ICMP only:
Then go back later and Edit Node Properties to set SNMP, WMI or Agent accordantly with your polling design.
Is this possible?
