Orion upgrade from 7.8 to 8.0

I've got Orion 7.8 running with quite a few devices (over 1000) I am getting ready to upgrade to 8.0. I've a new server built with 8.0 loaded. I didn't really want to do an "in-place" upgrade I wanted to leave the production box running (on same segment) and use the database off of the production box. After I feel comfortable with the 8.0 I will go ahead and upgrade. Anyone done this?
