User Role/ Group NPM users

Hi Guys,

most mangment software for things like mobile devices, corporate antivirus group users into certain roles, i.e;

administrator
Helpdesk
View only,

ect

this would be a good idea for NPM and all your products because,

it allows the admins to assign the admin role to all the admin users.
all the view only users to the view only role ect,

this simplifies the management of the npm users even those who are imported from AD

Good feedback. What I have seen users do now in 10.1 is create AD Groups for each of the roles you want defined in Orion (i.e. Admin, View Only, etc.) and add that AD Group to Orion and use our existing permission and account limitations. Have you tried that?

we have a mixture of AD users, AD groups and Orion Users.

currently there is no way to assign or group these into master groups

if i want to or need to change the default page for the admin users i have to change all the admin users

having a role or master group would make this much simpler.

Gotcha, since you have a mixed setup of authentication you are right. If they could all be AD and use only Groups, then it would work better, but I understand that does not sound like it will work in your environment.

Hi Brandon,

this is because all our Orion Admins use local orion auth, and non admins have a mix of ad and orion auth.

have a role assigned to a user/ group of users would make management much simpler.
