Custom Poller

I have a custom poller configured on a dmz device with alerts to trigger if the service (custom poller) goes down. The dmz device went down (node status is down) but the none of the alerts triggered and when I look at the web console the custom poller status is alive. Anyone else seen this?

The custom poller may be showing the result of the last successful query - ie at 11:40 your device was polled and the service was up, since then the device has been down so the poller did not get any snmp response and did not update the values it stored.

I have seen this on other installations

Your alerts will trigger if the device is up but the service is down

Thanks for the reply. I just thought that it should say data unavailable and also trigger an alert. The owner of the device may not be the owner of the service who would probably like to the service is not up.
