SolarWinds in Active-Active state between 2 DCs

Hi All,

Need some inputs... We have a scenario wherein customer has 2 DCs and they want SolarWinds to be available in both site, which means it will be 2 standalone instances(Active Active mode) monitoring respective devices its in own DC and not across...

Now they are also stating that they want Solarwinds to be available if any of the DC fails over to the other... So in such cases with 2 standalone instance, what is the best solution?

1. First one that i thought was having both sites devices monitoring from each DC... EX: DC1 monitoring DC1+DC2 but keep DC2 devices in unmanaged state and only turn them on when DC2 fails over to DC1... Cost would be double which i already know about...

2. Build HA of each instance on other side.. Ex DC1 site will have its own instance and HA instance of DC2 and same other way wherein DC2 will have its own instance with HA instance of DC1....The only issue will be at DB level which i will leave it to my architects to decide....

Both Options are viable however I would recommend building a HA instance on each side. Ultimately however there may be other considerations such as the available database infra, upgrading existing licensing or adding new HA licenses cost which you have mentioned which lead you to choosing option 1.
