SWtoolset install and IE8/Windows 7 install

I'm trying out the new Windows 7 beta (64-bit) with IE8. I'm not able to successfully install SWtoolset.exe. Whether I try to install it as a standard user, then give it an admin username/password when prompted, or just log in as an administrator and run IE8 as Admin.

It tries to do the install, I get no error message or entry in my logs, but at the next page refresh it wants to install the toolset again. It worked fine on my 64-bit Vista install on the same PC. I've even tried IE7 compatibility mode without any more success.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me (other than going back to Vista)? Thanks!

Go back to XP. I don't think SW is going to support anything installed on a beta OS.

The Toolset currently supports Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and Vista Business and Ultimate (see page 3 of the Administrator Guide).

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'm not sure the issue is Win7. Win7 is more like Vista than IE8 is to IE7. I think the issue is more likely IE8, but I can't be certain.

Is anyone able to use swtoolset.exe under IE8 and Vista?

Jeff (above) is right. We can't support an unreleased OS. You could run toolset in a virtual machine running XP? Isn't that a feature of Win7?

Yes Vista is supported, but someone correct me if I'm wrong, UAC must be disabled for the toolset to function properly under Vista. This might be your issue with Windows 7.

Well, say, Denny! Now that IE8 is officially part of Vista, will you support it? Your toolset will not install in IE8 on Vista which Micro$h*t kindly updated for me without asking, so how about making it work?

I'm running IE8 on Vista Business SP2 and having the same problem. Every time the page refreshes, I get prompted to install the SWToolSet.Engine add-on. Is there any workaround or fix for this other than disabling the UAC prompts?

Same problem here too - I'm running IE8 on Vista Business SP2.

In IE8, under Manage Add-Ons, I see that the SWToolSet.Engine is enabled; however I do not get the menu when I right click, I get the normal Windows context menu instead.

I just fixed it.

In IE8, Under Tools, Manage Add-Ons, Select SWToolSet.Engine, click the More Information link (below left) & then click the "Allow from all sites" button.
