Display device IP addresses in NPM

Hi - is there a way that I can have the device IP address displayed along with its name in the NPM web console? As it is now, I have the device name displayed and when you float your cursor over the name it'll show the IP address and some other bits of information - but it would really be convenient to be able to see the address displayed alongside the name. So far the only way I can see to do it is to delete the device and then re-add it, changing the device name to include the address. I'm thinking there's probably a better way.

The following steps should get you what you need by creating a report and then adding it as a resource to the views wherein you want to see the node names and IP addresses.

 

1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping > Report Writer.
2. Click New, and the select Inventory.
3. Click OK.
4. Configure options on the General tab, including a descriptive Report Title, as appropriate.
5. On the Select Fields tab, select both Network Nodes > Node Details > Node Name and Network Nodes > Node Details > IP Address.
6. Configure remaining report options, as appropriate, and then save it to you Reports folder.
7. Log in to the web console as an administrator.
8. Click Settings in the top right corner.
9. In the Views grouping, click Manage Views.
10. Select the view on which you want to add the report resource, and then click Edit.
11. Click + next to the column where you want the report resource to display.
12. Expand Report Writer - Turn a Report from Report Writer into a Web Resource, and then check Report from Orion Report Writer.
13. Click Submit.
14. Click Done.
15. Navigate to the view on which you placed the new report resource.
16. Click Edit in the header of the new report resource.
17. Configure options, as appropriate, and then select the new inventory report you created.
18. Click Submit.
