Would love to hear all opinions of the OpsGenie product and how it can revolutionize our alerting and on call scheduling work flow.
How has it changed the way in which you approach SolarWinds alerting?
Thank you!
I guess not too many people migrated from AlertCentral.
Thanks
What I used to do was, was to send the alert to an opsgenie email address, which in turn would SMS or email it to the oncall person. The oncall person was determined in the opsgenie roster.
I'm setting up an OpsGenie trial right now. The feature set looks pretty sweet after having managed scheduling, rotation, and weekly changes manually! I'm curious if there is a way to use the OpsGenie API for "Who is On Call" to show the current on-call person[s] in a custom resource on an Orion page.
Opsgenie didn't fit our work model. We have a work flow of all alerts getting funneled through a triage team that does initial analyses and troubleshooting before dispatching to correct teams.
Outlook calender, a poke from the service desk and slack alerts are us
Any more updates and opinions?
We bought it and now have showstopping challenges and issues with the product digesting SolarWinds variables.
Anything outside of the list below is a struggle. Not good for applications and components and a million others.

We just bought OpsGenie a few weeks ago - and there is definitely room for improvement with the SolarWinds Integration. Particularly since you can't just pass the alert text as you've already configured it ( IE - e-mail body )... INSTEAD, you get to pass your list of variables to OG and then re-assemble your alerts on the OpsGenie side. Again, I'm fairly new to the product but so far that has been our experience. Product itself is pretty slick and their staff has been responsive with issues and technical support. But each integration point needs a fair degree of customization if you want your alerts to be meaningful and have relevant info available to your engineers.
In any event - I'll post back here if I can find a way to simplify the integration w/ SW and OG. Particularly being able to pass alert body text as a whole from SolarWinds > OpsGenie.

We purchased OpsGenie a while back....and while i agree it does take some time to integrate and set up...once that is complete it is a good tool to have in my opinion...Their mobile phone application allows for push notifications straight to your phone where you can acknowledge, close, etc the alert and those actions will translate to Solarwinds...Also you can set up phone alert notifications for any critical alerts which is great... As well as Heartbeat notifications for SolarWinds itself...there is no point having a good monitoring solution if it is down and you don't know it.
