Un-Monitored Interface Showing Down?

We have three ESX servers whose status icons look like:

I believe that is showing an interface down...The interfaces look like:

 

And idea why I have the little red square on my node status?

Skymeat,

 

The square status box could represent anything related to child status. If you hover over the icon, does it provide you with text? If you select that node and in the Node Details section, there should be text to provide you more insight to the reason for the red box.
