I'm thinking about how orion connects vmware hosts to guest. And I'm kind of thinking loud here and want to know if I'm on the right track.
I have a few VMware hosts with some guests. I have added all the hosts and the guests as by orion monitored nodes. Enabled orion to monitor esx hosts. But orion fails to map some guests to hosts.
I can see in the "list of virtual machines" in orion npm webview that the IP-adress in the right column is not always the one that I have set up to monitor on the guest nodes.
Question: does orion map a vmware guest to it's host byt the IP-adress in the "list of virtual servers"?
If I look in vCenter I can see that the IP-adresses that is shown in the "list of virtual servers" are the same as shown under "Summary"/"General" on a perticular guest.
Question: if the first question is true, can I change wich server that is shown in the "list of virtual servers" either in orion or in vmware?
As of now I have some NIC's dedicated to ISCSI in the list and I don't want to monitor on them.
I have NPM 10.0 SP1 and ESX 4.0
