Setting Custom Property in 8.1 Advanced Alerts

I just noticed you can't set a Custom Property as an action in 8.1 Advanced alerts, but you can with Basic alerts. Is this something you can now do in 8.5?

Furthermore, if I wanted to set the current date/time in a custom property, would my "Value to set when Alert is Triggered" simply be, "${date}"?
