Alerts using Macros

I've had some hit and miss luck with trying to create custom macros for alerts. Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of some more advanced documentation or examples?

Not sure if you have already looked through the following;

but my suggestion is to start out with the pre-canned macros, but copy them first, and leave them intact. This way you always have a baseline to work from.

To send Alerts to one person during the day and a different person at night or on
the weekends, create Alerts with different Time of Day and Email/Page Addresses settings. The easiest way to set up multiple similar alerts is to set one up completely, then copy it (using the Copy Alert option on the Alerts tab), save it with a new name, and make whatever changes are required."
